The SharePoint Farm The SharePoint Farm Journey to SharePoint Customisation / Migration / Upgrade Skip to content Home About SharePoint 2013 System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: A port was expected because of there is a colon (‘:’) present but the port could not be parsed. This is due to inconsistency in the User Profile Service Application, mostly you can resolve this issue by restarting User Profile Synchronization Service, but sometimes you may have to re-provision UPS application. March 5, 2015March 5, 2015 SharePoint 2010 List of webparts on SharePoint 2013 I was searching for a list of webparts available on SharePoint 2013 in relation to my clients End user training. I couldn’t find the list anywhere. I had a strange requirement for one of my clients about restoring users and permissions deleted on site and document library level. There is only way to get around the issue is to restore the whole database, unless you have any third party tool in place to take care of the situation just to restore permissions. But as users have recently uploaded several year end reports, created several folders with lots permissions inheritance broken, which they were not prepared to lose. So restoring DB is out of scope. I was stuck in a strange situation on what to do. My initial thoughts were to restore the DB from the day before on the test server and export and import list permissions using Garry Lapointe’s export and import commands. But the issue was on the new folders created on live DB, when I try to import list security, all users were removed on new folders created on live. Then the option was to merge both the exported XML from live and test to overcome this new folder issue and restore permissions back to how it was before. Let’s start on how to: 1. First download Liquid XML tool, which is a handy tool to do most of your work. 2. Restore DB on your test server (I will not be covering on how to restore DB on SQL Server) 3. Run blow commands on the library where you would like the permissions removed, on both test and live servers. Yes, you read that right, link to the SP 2007 site. Basically I was using the 2013 search to crawl through SP 2007 content to make best use of its search features. I am not using any custom Masterpage, just trying to change the URL link by amending below line, but only work on home page and not on results.aspx. I know it can be changed if I use Custom masterpage, but in this scope no custom master page is being used. --> Continue reading → April 14, 2014May 20, 2014 SharePoint 2013 customisations SharePoint 2013 change log url link, SharePoint 2013 customisations using jQuery, SharePoint customisations using jQuery Configure SharePoint Network Load Balance using Citrix NetScaler To make your SharePoint farm builds resilience, network load balancing plays an important role.
